چکیده

Rapid urbanization in some cities has led to the emergence of numerous subsidiary settlements around their primary cities. Due this rapid and growth, there is a great demand for urban land, mostly commercial, industrial, residential uses. Urban green spaces vegetation are at risk due large amount as seen by decline connectivity increased fragmentation, especially land conversion. However, identification spatial momentary variability clustering fragmentation patterns settings not made full use local indicators distribution measurements, such Baqubah, city Iraq. Since it essential measure degree evaluate expansion trajectories consistently, study proposes new approach assessing anticipated direction extension, using indicator built-up areas. Sentinel-2 data was used map fragmented centres future extent single time point. The proposed method employs indices capture initial cover main extracted classes, landscape performance, surface density analysis were accomplished ArcGIS. results indicate that entire area Baqubah high 75%, about 23% open space within city. Two predicted also revealed: one may follow external road direction, while other multi-directional, commencing from edges area. concludes useful comprehending well anticipating its path. This integrated remote sensing GIS can sufficiently effectively determine priority regions successful planning management. In addition, our study's findings highlight potential suggested strategy spatially explicit determining patterns. Doi: 10.28991/CEJ-2022-08-09-04 Full Text: PDF

Detection of urban expansion in an urban-rural landscape with multitemporal QuickBird images.

Accurately detecting urban expansion with remote sensing techniques is a challenge due to the complexity of urban landscapes. This paper explored methods for detecting urban expansion with multitemporal QuickBird images in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Different techniques, including image differencing, principal component analysis (PCA), and comparison of classified impervious surfa...

Ecological Design of Urban Landscape

Paying attention to the spatial placement of the elements (man-made or natural) based on the landscape pattern and ecological processes in urban design would have a considerable impact on both human and the nature. In a way that the discords in the placement of patchs in respect to each other, or in respect to visual corridors and urban matrixes lead to the unwanted results in the cities. The e...

Urban expansion as a driver of biodiversity loss: Integrating biodiversity in urban planning in African context

Africa has high biodiversity and is rapidly urbanizing. However, there is limited understanding of how urban expansion in Africa is likely to affect its habitats and biodiversity. Little urban ecological research has been done in Africa. This study needs to think ahead as Africa move into the “urban age” it is critical to inform the public on the importance of urban environment...

Caffeine as an environmental indicator for assessing urban aquatic ecosystems.

This study aimed to evaluate the co-occurrence of caffeine and the extent of its influence as compared to other traditional water quality parameters (microbiological and physico-chemical) in order to characterize it as an efficient indicator of anthropic pollution of urban aquatic environments. Caffeine is an ingredient in a variety of beverages (coffee, tea, and caffeinated soft drinks) and nu...

Urban Landscape Classification System Using Airborne LiDAR

The classification of urban landscape in aerial LiDAR point clouds can potentially improve the quality of largescale 3D urban models, as well as increase the breadth of objects that can be detected and recognized in urban environments. In this paper, we introduce a multi-category classification system for aerial LiDAR point clouds. We propose the use of a cascade of binary classifiers for label...
